If you’ve got a furry friend celebrating a birthday soon, you might be gearing up to have family and friends over for a party! Hosting guests can be overwhelming, but we want to make throwing your dog a birthday party stress-free and fun. Whether you want a casual party at home or a full-fledged birthday bash, we have the perfect guide to celebrate your furbaby as they take another trip around the sun. Let’s jump right in and break down each aspect of party planning, so all your guests can enjoy themselves regardless of their number of legs.
Pick a Pet-Friendly Venue
There are a lot of details to finalize while organizing a party, but one of the most important tasks is finding a venture. Where you plan to host a party could determine other details like the date or how many people you can invite. Luckily, you’ve got a few options that should fill any party’s need. Do you want to host a party at home, or would you prefer a park party? It’s important to consider how involved you want this party to be.
For parties hosted at home, you may want to invite a specific number of people and pets based on available space. Similarly, an outdoor venue like a park or a dog-specific park may have more space to celebrate. Picking your venue might also be dependent on the time of year your furbaby was born. Spring, Summer, and even early Fall birthdays are perfect for some outdoor fun, but you may want to avoid celebrating outdoors if your pup’s birthday lands in the Winter!
No matter where you decide to host, a lot of preparation is essential. However, the final party details may look different from venue to venue.
Finalize Party Details
Once your venue is locked in, it’s time to start choosing the other aspects of this puppy party! Select the date and time, as well as the guests who will be invited to celebrate your canine on their special day. Next, decide on a theme. There are plenty of creative themes to celebrate your furbaby with. Here are some of our favorites:
- “Let’s Pawty!”
- A Favorite Toy or Treat
- Age-Related Theme
- Favorite Activity
Once the basic details are put together, create a stylish invitation to send out to your guests.
This invitation should include important information like the date and time of your party and where you’re hosting it. This gives guests a general idea of all the essential information they need to get their celebration on! While waiting for the day of your party to creep closer, begin picking out decorations and other party must-haves so you’ll be ready to set everything out the day of!
Prepare Doggie Deserts
A few days before celebrating your canine, you’ll want to begin preparing treats and other special birthday snacks. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to do so, as baking pet treats can be tricky. There are plenty of pet-safe recipes online for a delish cake to bring your pooch as you sing “Happy Birthday.” Dorothy Kern’s recipe from CrazyforCrust.com might be the perfect cake to celebrate your loving furball.
