Meet Blake, Dog trainer and Shop Manager. Blake started his journey as an apprentice under Trent in his first Sit Means Sit location. After completing his Sit Means Sit certification in 2022, he transferred as lead trainer to the Post Falls Facility. As a child, Blake developed a phobia of dogs after being pulled off a swing set by a dog he did not know. Luckily, his parents helped him overcome his fear by getting him a black labrador puppy for his 10th birthday. His fear turned to fascination after he took on the responsibility of training his first dog, Zeus. When the pandemic shut down the world, Blake had to find a new line of work. His first priority was that he wanted to take his Dogo Argentino, Killua, to work with him. He found Sit Means Sit after seeing one of their clients amazing results and knew he wanted to be a member of the company that produced such magical results.
Now, his Dogo Argentino is retired to a life of luxury with his dog mom while the new addition, Golden Retriever, Hunter goes to work getting all the pets and attention he can.
Outside of work, Blake enjoys taking his dogs out on hiking trails, the beach to swim along the Spokane River or Lake Coeur d’Alene. He also enjoys taking his dogs to animal friendly patios for dinner and to dog friendly stores such as Cabelas.
Blake’s advice: “Consistency is key, add training to everyday tasks like before food or on the way back from potty breaks. Make life a game for your dog and have fun!”
